...but do all Brits really work from home?

working from home

The recent research we conducted also looked at what people get up to when they say they're working from home. And in the main it's good news... even if some bosses remain unconvinced.

We found that 73 per cent of office workers believe they would be more productive if they worked from home during disruption, while 65 per cent of those who already do so claim to work longer hours. Despite this, 50 per cent said their bosses remain sceptical about whether people are really working if they aren't in the office.

And despite claims of longer hours and greater productivity, it's clear people's behaviours do change as they become more flexible about their days:

  • 43 per cent of respondents admitted to staying in their nightclothes
  • 32 per cent admitted to putting the TV on
  • 67 per cent listen to the radio or their stereo.
  • 62 per cent break up their working day to fit in chores
  • 14 per cent do the weekly shop during work hours.
  • Five per cent walk the dog

...and...

  • Nine per cent actually take an afternoon nap
