The majority of UK workers believe their employer prioritises green issues – yet less than a quarter of people say their workplace carries out a CO2 audit. This was revealed by a Lumison study that received more than 700 responses.
The research revealed that while 67% of people say their company is on board with the green agenda, less than a third of companies carry out a formal carbon audit. Moreover, 43% of people didn’t even know whether their company had made any formal commitment or audit.
“At first glance, the results of our research look encouraging. But on closer inspection, it seems many people are in denial about how committed their companies really are to the green agenda,” said Lumison CEO, Aydin Kurt-Elli.
“When it comes to reducing corporate carbon emissions, companies need to do more than simply talk about their commitment. They need to understand exactly how much carbon they produce, and set targets to reduce it.”
Respondents of the study also called for improvements in power saving (79%), recycling (49%) and green IT (43%).
