We are pleased to be able to announce the launch of a new service offering alongside our new datacentre in London. MetroVLAN is a product which allows customers in our London datacentre to be able to connect cost-effectively, and with ease, to Telehouse East in Docklands at 10Mbps, 100Mbps or 1Gbps line speeds. We will soon also have a completely diverse route to Telehouse Metro for resilience purposes.

For clients who need to interconnect at these popular interconnect points or need access to certain services or networks at the Docklands datacentres, MetroVLAN allows them to enjoy the security of using a Lumison datacentre outwith the flood plain. MetroVLAN is a robust alternative to traditional leased lines or MetroEthernet, costing significantly less, and taking literally days to provide, rather than the months a dedicated circuit would take to install.

Customers can have just a normal Ethernet connection using a single VLAN, or enjoy technology referred to as QinQ (or 802.1QinQ to it’s friends!) where up to 4096 of your own VLANs can be tunneled over our VLAN service.
