Ethical Approach_

Ours is an energy intensive business – we consume literally megawatts of power every day – but we try to minimise the negative and accentuate the positive in everything we do.

Carbon footprint

We:

  • offer blanket discounts for registered charities, services-in-kind and direct support for a number of charities and NGOs (Non-Governmental Organisations)
  • purchase all our mains grid power through Green tariffs
  • use Ambicool (Glycol-based) energy efficient CRAC (Computer Room Air Conditioning) to reduce energy footprint by 30% compared to traditional systems
  • employ evaporative cooling technology to office and switchrooms, reducing energy footprint by 90% compared to traditional cassette systems
  • use heat recovery from datarooms into office areas reducing energy requirements for offices by literally hundreds of thousands of kWh of energy each year
  • recycle all paper, cardboard, plastic and related products and are fully compliant with the WEEE directive for the disposal of electrical waste
  • boast quality, security and people management systems audited to ISO9001:2000, ISO27000 and Investors in People standards respectively.  We’re also working towards security standards PCI DSS.
  • work through a number of trade and related organisations, including Linx, Payphone Plus, Ofcom, ISPA, ITSPA, several Chambers of Commerce, the SCDI (Scottish Council for Development and Industry) and the SCG (Scottish Continuity Group), to ensure good governance.

We are also proud sponsors of a number of arts organisations and events, ranging from the Edinburgh Youth and Scottish Chamber Orchestra through to the Edinburgh International Festival and smaller local events such as the Leith Festival.
